Letter to the Editor,
Manhasset Press, October 23, 2008 The members of Planet Manhasset, the eco-friendly SCA committee, would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Manhasset school community for its support and encouragement. Planet Manhasset has had a very productive and positive first year. The enthusiasm, guidance and creativity of all those involved has sparked a true ‘green’ consciousness. We have enjoyed being involved in this project and look are making plans to continue and expand on the accomplishments of this past year. This endeavor would not have been possible without the assistance of Charlie Cardillo and the entire school board. This committee considers itself very lucky to work with such an open, progressive and responsible administration. Sandy Demitroff, Christine Koskovolis and the SCA executive board have been extremely helpful and supportive throughout. School principals Mr. Gezcick, Dr. Kendall and Dr. Schlanger have all been incredibly involved and accommodating. Thank you to Jen Villano, Ellen Duran, Jeanette Reilly and Kathy McIntee for getting this ball rolling, and to Christy Weppler and Caroline Kenlon for jumping right in. A special thank you to the very talented Linda Kane for her help with the design of the logo and her willingness to always lend her expertise at any time. Planet Manhasset would also like to send a special thank you to Molly DePietro and her family for their help and generosity in sponsoring our new Green Gear tote. Last, but certainly not least, there is a whole team of committed behind-the-scenes Planet Manhasset members who have worked diligently toward our goals, both last year and now this new school year. That list continues to grow, and we are forever grateful to have such wonderful, dedicated people to work with. We look forward to another great year.
