Summer Studies

For over 60 years, the SCA has sponsored the Summer Studies Awards program to encourage Manhasset High School Juniors to participate in a meaningful summer activity before their senior year. Awards are granted based on enthusiasm, sincerity, and suitability of the program to the candidate, and not on academic achievement, class rank, or need.

Any enrichment activity students participate in during the summer between their Junior and Senior year will be considered. It can be related to the arts, music, academics, sports, or personal growth. It can last for one week or the entire summer and occur anywhere. Information on possible programs is available in the Guidance Office.

Applicants must submit an online application and two teacher recommendations and are then interviewed by a committee comprised of SCA members, school faculty, and community members. Each award is no more than $1,000, and the money must be used to cover the cost of tuition, books, or supplies.
